Work Experience
Presently, I am a Local Program Manager for Central Texas College, and a Sales and Customer Service Representative for SONY Electronics. My experience consists of over 12 years working in the fields of sales, marketing, business, education, internet and computer technologies. My prior experience commenced while serving in the United States Navy as a marine engineer. While in the military, I received training on mechanical and electrical equipment, including nuclear power, heat transfer and fluid flow. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the navy after six years of active duty, I was hired on a one year limited term appointment to work as a work control clerk for the Department of Defense for one year. I was then hired on an additional one year limited term appointment to work as an office automation assistant for the Department of Defense.
From August 1999 to Present, I have also worked in a self employed status. From August 1998 to July 2005, I worked as a Financial Planner and Life Insurance Agent with Integrated Financial Planning Services. Although I am not currently active, I am still associated with IFPS, licensed with FINRA and the Texas Department of Insurance. From November 2002 to present, I have worked as a web publisher, designing and developing web pages using: Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe Go Live!, Marcomedia Dreamweaver 8 and MX, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop CS, HTML, XHTML, CSS and PHP programming. I also actively marketed these web pages using Search Engine Optimization (SEO), on page and off page, Overture, Yahoo, Google Adwords, email, blogs, forums, directories, direct mail, and social networks. I also manage a team of 28 writers for one of my online businesses.
In addition, I serve the University of Maryland University College as an Emergency Computer Repair Technician overseeing a network of one server and 23 lab clients.
Education:
I am currently working on my Bachelors in Applied Technology and Performance Improvement with the University of North Texas. I expect to graduate in May 2009. This summer I am taking two classes with the University of Texas at Brownsville, Computer and Web Based Training and Designing Interactive Multimedia.
Future Plans
I would like the opportunity to work for educational or business institutions to develop computer and web-based training programs and tutorials. I also plan to continue my graduate studies with UT-Brownsville in their Masters in Education in Educational Technology program and become a consultant.
What I Believe In
I believe in learning new things and always seeking out change. I believe in embracing change when it does come along even if it seems bad. I believe in the pressure of deadlines and the freedom to be creative to accomplish a task. I believe in multi-tasking. I believe in working hard and when the job is done, playing hard. I believe in taking the initiative, allowing myself to make mistakes and learning from my courage. I believe in telling those that are important to me how much they mean to me at every opportunity. I believe in making personal sacrifices to see the joy of those that mean the most to me. I believe in the Golden Rule, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"..
My Hobbies
I enjoy spending time with my family whether it be at home, at the lake or in the mountain. I enjoy water skiing and golf and never pass down an opportunity to go fresh water fishing. When I am not outside or playing with the boys, I am on the internet, learning about new technologies. I also enjoy redesigning my 100+ web sites periodically and creating online tutorials on how to use various software and web sites, like BlackBoard, WebCT and Webadvisor.
